Big South Fork Airpark Featured in AOPA Pilot Magazine!
We’re honored to be featured in the February 2025 issue of AOPA Pilot Magazine in a story that captures the heart and soul of Big South Fork Airpark. Titled “Living with Your Airplane: Never a Dull Moment”, the article by Julie Summers Walker dives into what makes our community so special—from the thrill of flying to the beauty of the surrounding wilderness.
Set on 450 acres next to Scott Municipal Airport (SCX) and bordered by the stunning Big South Fork National River and Recreation Area, our airpark offers a lifestyle where aviation, nature, and community come together. Whether you’re exploring rugged trails in a four-wheeler, riding horseback from our on-site equestrian center, or watching aerobatic displays from neighbors like Britt Lincoln, there’s truly never a dull moment.
Founder B.A. Armstrong’s vision started nearly two decades ago with the dream of a mountain airpark—a rare and ambitious idea that’s now in its final development phase. With through-the-fence access to a 5,500-foot runway, hangar homes, and a vibrant aviation community, Big South Fork Airpark continues to grow with like-minded residents who value both adventure and connection.
Events like our annual Low-Country Boil—complete with 100 pounds of crab, live jazz, and guests flying in from across the country—make it easy to see why visitors often become neighbors.
